The first thing I remember about my interest in photography was having picture magazines around my home, such as Life, Look, and National Geographic. Growing up in Detroit, MI, these publications introduced me to powerful images and storytelling.
I pursued higher education at San Diego State University, enrolling in a fine arts program that specialized in photography and photojournalism. This academic path provided a solid foundation for my career. I began my journey as a photojournalist for local periodicals, capturing the essence of everyday life and the emotions of my subjects.
Among various photography styles, I developed a fascination with concert photography. My deep love for jazz music naturally guided me toward specializing in jazz photography, which has since become my favorite genre. The vibrant energy of live performances and the unique personalities of jazz musicians inspire me every day.
Currently, I work as a freelancer, focusing on stills and behind-the-scenes photography in the motion picture and TV industries. This role allows me to explore new creative avenues while still emphasizing the narrative aspect of photography.
Throughout my career, I have exhibited my work in numerous galleries and participated in various mixed art and photography competitions across Michigan. My work has been recognized, earning awards and being featured in several art magazines and online publications. This journey has continued to fuel my passion for photography and storytelling.
